This site is devoted to educating those in need of legal representation on my method of practicing law. If you need to hire a criminal defense attorney, my hope is that this site will assist you in evaluating your potential lawyer.
My first goal is to fight the hardest cases. I prefer to take the cases that most lawyers consider not winnable if taken to jury trial. I have honed my skills as a lawyer and built my credibility fighting - and at times winning -- the hardest cases.
My second goal is to win the most criminal trials of any lawyer in Austin. This is accomplished by taking easy cases all the way to trial to get an acquittal rather than working out a plea bargain. I squeeze the most out of every case even if it upsets the judge and the prosecutors.
I do not want the lawyers on the other side of the case I am defending to think this is supposed to be fun. I try to be as difficult to beat in court as possible. I take up time and I make demands that others have often viewed as unreasonable. I hope that litigating a case against me is agonizing and tedious. I actively try to condition the other side not to fight my requests by taking them to jury trial as often as I can. While every case is different and no results can be guaranteed, my trial history and my win record give me leverage over the state that other lawyers who do not try cases do not have.
All lawyers make similar claims about "fighting hard" or "getting results". However, some lawyers claims are justified by actual experience in fighting cases and getting results at jury trial that are better for their client than what the client was offered as part of a plea bargain, and some lawyers just spend money on websites and advertising, rarely go to the courthouse, and never litigate anything.
I can show you DWI arrest videos on cases I have tried in which I did not expect my client to get acquitted, but the jury found the client not guilty. If you are charged with DWI, come to my office, and watch these tapes. If you are not impressed, I will pay you $100 for your time.
Please see My Method and Jury Trial and Jury Selection pages for more information on how and why I try cases to a jury.
